Hey y’all! I often get asked about shoes for your wedding; how fancy do they need to be? What style? What type? Well, wait no longer. I have the answers for you!

How to Pick the Perfect Shoes for YOUR Wedding - Be True to Yourself!

There are so many options - heels, boots, flats, white, blue, closed toe. My top tip is to just be you! There are no rules to follow for your micro wedding! You get the freedom to do what you want and look as good as you want! Pick a shoe type that fits your personality. Or, maybe you want to make a bold statement by wearing something not so traditional! We’re all about redefining wedding traditions here at Meander Gatherings! Go ahead and wear some Hot Pink Dr. Martens! We’re here for it!

Think About the Theme of Wedding When Choosing the Perfect Shoes for Your Wedding

The next thing to consider is the theme you are going with for your wedding ceremony. For that, you should look in your closet, and determine which type of shoes for your wedding is most prominent? Do you have Birkenstocks in every style and color? Or do you have Ariat boots in multiple types? Go with what’s you and what you know you will be comfortable in that matches the theme of your wedding!

Landscape of Venue Helps You Choose the Perfect Shoes for Your Wedding

However, we do recommend thinking about the feel of the venue location as well as the grounds. (literally the grounds ;) Is it all concrete? Is it in a field of trees and the ground will be uneven in areas? If you are getting married at a ranch, it may not be a good idea to wear 6 inch stilettos! The same goes for if you are getting married at a luxurious chateau, a pair of Laredo boots may not be the best choice.

Stick to Your Boundaries When Picking the Perfect Shoes for Your Wedding

And please, don’t others lead you into wearing closed toe high heels if you have never worn heels in your life! That road leads only to sadness when choosing shoes for your wedding! This is suppose to be one of the happiest days of your life - don’t let it be dampened by the expectations of others and choosing something that ultimately will make you uncomfortable all day long.

Buy Your Wedding Shoes Early

And whatever you do, definitely buy your shoes for your wedding EARLY, and wear them at least 2-3 times in order to break them in a bit. This makes sure they are comfortable for when you get hitched! Maybe you can add some cushion if needed. And always pack an extra pair as a back up!
