Invitations Explained

You don't have to have 150 people at your wedding to make it spectacular!  We are true believers in the belief that there is nothing wrong with going tiny. Truth is, you can have just as beautiful, and maybe even a better wedding experience, with fewer people on the guest list.  It’s all about figuring out who you really want to be by your side on your big day.  Once you’ve made the must-have guest list, the next step is to actually invite them.

Since most of our weddings happen in 30-60 days, our couples frequently ask us for recommendations on the HOW of sending the invites.  Most save-the-dates are sent months out and invitations are sent out at 60 days.  As such, time is of the essence when it comes to sending out your micro-wedding invites.  We suggest using electronic invites in the form of cute phone pictures!

On each of the invites, we included all the must-have information for your event.  The first thing you’ll need to include is you and your fiance’s names.  You’ll also need to inform your guests of the actual wedding date and time as well as where you’re hosting the wedding.  Beyond the basic information, you may also choose to include if there is an expected dress code for your guests.  It’s also important to indicate who exactly is invited (if they’re allowed a guest) or if children are welcome to also attend the wedding. Parking may be in important detail to include on the invite or maybe you already have plans for an “after-party” of sorts that they should also be made aware of.  Anything that’s important information for all of your guests, we recommend including in the initial information.

While you may think that you need a professional to help with this process, it’s actually not that bad if you have a starting point.  In order to help with this, we’ve created a few templates to get you started with the invitations!

Using the free version of Canva, you’re able to edit either one of these templates with your weddings’ details as well as personalizing it with you and your fiance’s names.  You can even change the color scheme and fonts to your own liking.  We’ve created them with the portrait phone size in mind, so it sends beautifully and saves in the best format possible.  Then, you’re just one easy step away from sending out those invites to that small but mighty list of names!

After you’ve created the invites, you may be interested in collecting RSVPs and tracking the numbers.  If you’d like to create a free website to house all this info, theknot.com is a popular wedding website creator.  Just because you’re having a small event, doesn’t mean you have to skip the bells and whistles.  Not only can you track your RSVPs, but you can list your wedding registry, post engagement photos, and tell your love story to friends and family.  They are easy and quick to setup. No need to spend too much time creating it, but if you like organization and doing things the “expected” way, it may be the perfect answer for you.

We hope we’ve made the invite process a little easier for you.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out.
